IV Therapy

What is IV therapy?

A Highly Effective Way to Boost Nutrition & Improve Health

Intravenous therapy involves infusing a high concentration of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients directly into the bloodstream. By bypassing the digestive tract, IV therapy leads to maximum absorption (up to 90% more than oral ingestion!) and faster uptake of nutrients, which means accelerated healing for you.

IV Therapy can help with/during:

  • Improved immune health, especially during bacterial or viral infections

  • Post-Op recovery

  • Chronic Pain & Arthritis

  • Mental health problems, such as depression or brain fog

  • Cancer treatment

Targeted IV Therapy Options:

NAD+

Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD) is a coenzyme present in every living cell that helps repair and restore the body and mind. A persons natural NAD level diminishes as they get older causing deficiency that has been associated with a number of diseases and aging.

NAD maintains DNA integrity and reverses cellular damage, helping to sharpen your mind, repair DNA, reverse aging, enhance your metabolism, and fight fatigue. It can be a beneficial treatment for people with chronic pain, diabetes, depression and cognitive decline from age, disease or trauma.

High Dose IV Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps boost the immune system, build collagen, and promote wellness. Medical Evidence supports the use of IV Vitamin C from its anti-viral effects to eliminating toxins in the body and pain management.

The benefits of IV Vitamin C can help with faster healing, lessen pain after an injury, increase energy and combat fatigue, as well as fight cold/flu and bacterial infections more effectively. IVC has been proven to help those undergoing cancer treatment, those with Lyme disease, arthritis, during post-op recovery and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

IV Therapy: General

Can I just take oral vitamin supplements?

When taken orally, only a fraction (20-40% or less) of the essential nutrients are absorbed due to a variety of factors: unhealthy diet, insufficient essential nutrients, widespread prevalence of gastrointestinal problems, chronic illness and more. With IV nutrient therapy, 100% of the nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream, where they can immediately be used by your body.

Do I need a physician’s order to get an IV?

No, you are not required to have a physician’s order to get an IV.  In some instances, such as pregnancy we do require a physician to approve the administration of IV fluids.

Can you create specific nutrient cocktails individualized for my needs?

Yes! We invite you to consult with our practitioners to create an IV nutrient plan based on your concerns and needs.

Do you provide other treatments besides IV drips?

IM/Intramuscular injections are also available and are very quick and effective.

How long does a treatment take?

Depending on the patient and the service you receive, appointments usually last between 30-60 minutes.

I am a “difficult IV stick” – what if you can’t get an IV?

All our medical professionals are very skilled and seasoned at getting IVs while using techniques and products to minimize pain. Since our IV services are not administered in an emergency situation, we can be patient in finding the best access. Although rare, if we are unable gain access, we may still be able to help with our intramuscular medications.

Who should get an IV?

Almost anyone! Dependent on your health history, most everyone will benefit from receiving IV nutrients/vitamins.

Who should not get an IV?

We cannot administer intravenous therapy to patients that have CHF (Congestive Heart Failure), Kidney Failure or CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease), or those on dialysis. Also, we will not administer an IV to any patient with abnormal vital signs or those experiencing a medical emergency.

If I’m pregnant or breastfeeding, can I partake in an IV or shot?

You must have a doctor's prescription for IV Therapy or Vitamin Shots if you are pregnant. You may use IV Therapy and Vitamin Shots while breastfeeding.

How often should I do an IV or Vitamin shot?

It is recommended that you get infusions every 2 weeks to 1 month.  B12 shots are typically done weekly.

What is Glutathione and what does it do?

•  Master antioxidant produced in the body

•  Nervous system health

•  Liver health

•  Protects against free radicals and oxidative stress

Do you access ports?

No, currently we do not access ports.

Do you take insurance?

IV vitamin and nutrient infusions are considered elective and are not covered by insurance. We accept Health Savings Plans (HSA), Cash, Debit, and all major credit cards.

IV Therapy: High-Dose Vitamin C

What protocols do you follow for High-Dose Vitamin C IV therapy for cancer patients?

Rock Haven Health and Wellness offers High-Dose Intravenous Vitamin C to treat a wide variety of conditions, including cancer. We follow the Riordan Clinic intravenous vitamin C (IVC) protocols which have been used safely for many years, treating thousands of patients. The Riordan Clinic Research Institute (RCRI) has been studying the potential of intravenous vitamin C therapy for over thirty years and has set the standard for complimentary oncology care.

How does High-Dose Vitamin C IV work on Cancer?

• Plasma ascorbic acid (vitamin C) concentrations in high range can be safely achieved with IVC infusions.

• At high concentrations, ascorbate is toxic to cancer and kills cancer cells in vitro and is able to inhibit angiogenesis (new vessel formation) in vitro and in vivo.

• Vitamin C can accumulate in tumors, with significant tumor growth inhibition.

• Published case studies report anti-cancer efficacy, improved patient well-being, and decreases in markers of inflammation and tumor growth.

• Phase I clinical studies indicate that IVC can be administered safely with relatively few adverse effects.

• Reduces free radicals.

• Dietary supplements cannot achieve the same level of ascorbic acid in blood.

How is it done?

• There are some medical exclusions and/or relative contraindications.

• Lab work and review of medical records is needed prior to starting the protocol.

• The doses of Vitamin C vary and are established based on the blood level of Vitamin C achieved after the administration of the IV Vitamin C.

• The length of each infusion depends on the dose of the Vitamin C and how it is tolerated but expect 1.5-2 hours.  Please eat prior to your infusion and drink plenty of fluids.

• The protocol is usually administered twice a week, in rare cases three times a week.  Duration is usually 3 months followed by a taper and monthly maintenance.

Who Can Benefit from High Dose IV Vitamin C?

Candidates include those seeking to help their body heal faster. Those looking to increase energy levels/fatigue. Those experiencing resilience to infection like colds/flus and viral/bacterial infections. Cancer patients who are seeking to improve effectiveness of standard cancer care, as well as aim to decrease severity of side effects from standard cancer therapy. IVC may also benefit those attempting to prolong their remission and those declining standard treatment yet wishing to pursue alternative care.

IV Therapy: NAD

What is NAD Function in the Body?

NAD mediates calcium levels, regulates gene expression, antioxidant function, cellular energy production, DNA repair, turn on good genes cellular repair.  NAD+ is involved at the most basic cellular functioning and is one of the mitochondrial function enhancement methods you can use to maximize your physical and mental performance, general health and slow aging.  Mitochondria is the cellular powerhouse, the energy maker.  Energy optimization IS THE MOST fundamental and effective way to improve your health and maintain a youthful feeling and level of functioning.  Every function of the body and every organ, including the brain, are dependent on NAD+ and oxygen utilization. As a result, many and probably most disease would benefit from maximizing the NAD+ levels.

What is the difference between NAD+ and NADH?

These two substances work in conjunction to help the cells mitochondria produce energy.  However, we need abut a 700/1 ratio of NAD+ to NADH for maximum efficiency.  Therefore, supplementing with NAD+ is paramount in improving our cells energy production. Caloric restriction, including intermittent fasting, can also help boost NAD+ levels.

What is the best way to supplement NAD+?

Oral formulations have not been shown to be effective for NAD+ supplementation.  Some orally dissolvable tablets attempt to avoid the destruction of the NAD+ that otherwise would be processed through the digestive system.  Still, the benefits are questionable, and the cost is most often higher than receiving the same dose of NAD+ via IV.  As of now, the IV NAD+ is the most effective way to enhance NAD+ levels as it delivers the NAD+ directly into the bloodstream and avoids degradation in the intestinal tract.
