Are you tired of feeling tired? Have you put extra weight on and struggled to build muscle? Are you suffering from mild depression that never bothered you in the past? Do you have a lower sex-drive than previously, or do you struggle with impotency? You may be dealing with symptoms of low testosterone.
In men, testosterone plays a crucial role in defining the characteristics we often refer to as “manliness” - a deep voice, muscle growth and strength, body hair, sex drive (libido), even energy and confidence.
Typically, testosterone peaks in the 20's before a slow decline begins around age 30. But testosterone can dip too low prematurely due to a number of factors, such as: excessive alcohol intake, chronic health conditions such as diabetes or obesity, chronic stress, a sedentary lifestyle, poor sleep, xenobiotics exposure (i.e. pesticides), prolonged cardiovascular exercise, consuming a very low-fat diet, and other health conditions.

Bioidentical hormones are hormones that are chemically identical to those produced by the human body. This similarity allows bioidentical hormones to interact with the body’s hormone receptors in the same way as the hormones produced by the body, leading to more effective, safer and more personalized treatment options. Bioidentical hormones are derived from plant sources, such as soy or yams.
Symptoms of low testosterone vary person-to-person but can include fatigue, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, mood changes, loss of muscle mass, increased body fat and joint pain.
Men who are a good candidate for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) typically experience symptoms of low testosterone, or have confirmed low testosterone levels, and desire to improve their quality of life.
Potential risks and side effects can include acne, increased red blood cell count, weight changes, mood changes, and hair growth. Each method of BHRT comes with its own risks and will be discussed with one of our healthcare providers at your initial hormone consultation.
BHRT for men can be administered through various methods, including oral, topical gels, and pellets. The choice of administration will depend on individual preferences and medical advice.
Many men may begin to notice improvements in symptoms within a few weeks, but it can take several months to achieve optimal results. Routine follow-ups with our healthcare providers is essential for monitoring progress and adjusting treatment as needed.
